• A soil is made up of four major components which are the soil air, soil water, soil organic matter and minerals.
 • The organic matter in the soil is made up of plant and animal life that are dying and decaying.
 • They then release useful organic matter into the soil which helps plant growth.

She notices that the muscle cells are loaded with mitochondria while the macrophages have abundant lysosomes. why is this so?
Kaylis [27]

The muscle cells are loaded with mitochondria to allow large amounts of ATP production while the macrophages have abundant lysosomes to digest the debris and dead organisms like bacteria.

Mitochondria are known as the powerhouse of a cell. This is because most of the ATP production used by various systems in their operation is produced by mitochondria. A chemical called NADH is produced in the mitochondrial matrix through the Krebs cycle. The enzymes embedded in the mitochondrial membrane use this chemical to produce Adenosine Triphosphate, generally known as ATP.

Macrophages are phagocytic white blood cells involved in engulfing and killing pathogens. They are involved in the innate immune response of the body. Lysosomes have specialized enzymes that can kill these pathogens.

Muscle cells need to contract or expand for which they require energy. Thus, they have abundant mitochondria. Whereas, the macrophages have abundant lysosomes to help them kill disease-causing pathogens like a virus or bacteria.

What statement correctly describes the relationship among endocrine glands, target cells, water-soluble hormones, and lipid-solu
9966 [12]

Water-soluble and lipid-soluble hormones that bind to target cells are secreted by endocrine glands.

The interaction between endocrine glands, target cells, water-soluble hormones, and lipid-soluble hormones is accurately described by the aforementioned sentence.

What functions and how does the endocrine system operate?

The level of hormones in your blood is regularly monitored by your endocrine system. In order to transmit the message, hormones send their messages by locking into the cells they intend to reach.

When your hormone levels increase, the pituitary gland signals other glands to stop manufacturing and releasing hormones. The pituitary gland has the ability to tell other glands to manufacture and release additional hormone when levels fall below a certain threshold.

Homeostasis is a process that functions similarly to your home's thermostat. Almost every physiological process is impacted by hormones, including:

 • Metabolism
 • Growth & development.
 • Emotions & mood.
 • Fertility & sexual function.
 • Sleep.
 • Blood pressure.

Which model of modern human origins does evidence of modern/archaic interbreeding support?
nikklg [1K]
The model of modern human origins depends, in part, on the archaic interbreeding of Neanderthals and Homo Sapiens (not the modern Homo Sapiens Sapiens, which is what human beings are to this day.) From this coupling rose a species, us, which was tough and less impervious to cold, a quality gained from the Neanderthals, and a more robust brain size, a quality obtained from Homo Sapiens.
