When should you use a union type component in a structured variable?
Eduardwww [97]

Answer:

The answers to 1st question and part 2A is given. However, the 2B is not given complete and thus cannot be answered.

Explanation:

UNION is a keyword used in C Language to have a commonly shared memory that can be used by multiple elements. It is a data-type that allows different data types to use the same shared memory location.

Importance: If you want to minimize the use of memory by sharing it between different datatype variables, then use UNION. For Ex. Let's suppose I want to use 2 variables a and b of type char and int respectively. Now, suppose int takes memory space of 2 bytes and char takes 1 byte then the total amount of memory needed = 2 + 1 = 3 Bytes. But, we want to first make use of a, and once done, we want to declare variable b. We can limit the memory use by declaring a memory space of 2 bytes (max of a and b). First, we can use this space to store the int variable and when done with it, we can use it to store the char variable.

PART 2A

typedef struct{

  int partNum;

  char partName[25];

} partin;

#define Partin partin

Answer:

As a design rule, access points within range of each other should be set to channel frequencies with minimal signal overlap. Users will find that roaming doesn’t work well, and performance will degrade because of interference between access points.

Write a Java program that reads two numbers from the console. Based on the example in the textbook, write five methods (min, max
makvit [3.9K]

Answer:

import java.util.Scanner;

public class num6 {

   public static void main(String[] args) {

       Scanner in = new Scanner(System.in);

       System.out.println("Enter first number");

       int a = in.nextInt();

       System.out.println("Enter second number");

       int b = in.nextInt();

       //Calling the methods inside the output statement

       System.out.println("Min is "+min(a,b));

       System.out.println("Max is "+ max(a,b));

       System.out.println("Sum is "+sum(a,b));

       System.out.println("Product is "+product(a,b));

       System.out.println("Absolute difference is "+difference(a,b));

   }

   //Min Method

   static int min(int a, int b){

       if (a<b){

           return a;

       }

       else {

           return b;

       }

   }

   //Max Method

   static int max(int a, int b){

       if (a>b){

           return a;

       }

       else {

           return b;

       }

   }

   //Sum Method

   static int sum(int a, int b){

       return a+b;

   }

   //Diference Method

   static int difference(int a, int b){

       int diff = Math.abs(a-b);

       return diff;

   }

   //Product Method

   static int product(int a, int b){

       int prod = a*b;

       return prod;

   }

}

Explanation:

  • Using Java programming language
  • Use the scanner class to prompt and receive two values from the user (integers a and b)
  • Create the four methods as required (Please see the comments in the code)
  • In the difference method use Math.abs() to get the absolute value of the subtraction ensuring that you get a positive number returned
