In the Mesozoic Era the mass destruction of marine and terrestrial life and the extinction of dinosaurs took place over that time.The extinction took place over 252 years back and over 96% or marine life and 70% of terrestrial life died out. The cause of extinction  of marine life and terrestrial life is not clear but asteroid was the cause of extinction of all the dinosaur which were there on the planet since last 135 millions years ago. Before the Mesozoic era dinosaur used to rule the planet and the extinction of dinosaur was a major geographic event of the era.
