7. Larry, Moe, and Curly went out on the town one Saturday night. Instead of driving home they thought it would be best to sleep

at a very cheap hotel. After dinner and a movie, each gentleman had exactly one ten dollar bill left in their pocket. They decided to see if they could afford the Flea-Bag Hotel on Hennepin Avenue. Larry, Moe, and Curly all walked into the Flea-Bag Hotel and asked the Night Manager how much a room was. The Night Manager said the cheapest room was thirty dollars. Larry, Moe, and Curly each reached into their pockets and gave the Night Manager their respective ten dollar bill which all together added up to the required thirty dollars. The Night Manager summoned the bell-boy and had him escort these gentleman up to their room. The bell-boy took Larry, Moe, and Curly up to their room and when he held out his hand for a tip was sadly disappointed - they had no more money and could not tip this fine young lad, so hanging his head low - the bell-boy went back to the Night Manager for his next assignment. When the bell-boy returned to the Night Manager, the Night Manager informed him that Larry, Moe, and Curly had actually paid too much money for their room. Their room was on a special that particular Saturday, and the room which they had paid thirty dollars for - was in fact on supposed to cost twenty-five dollars. The Night Manager give the bell-boy five one dollar bills and told him to return this money to Larry, Moe, and Curly. As the bell-boy was heading up to their room he put two dollars into his waist band thinking that, "Well, those cheapskates didn't even tip me and they will never know the difference." He knocked on the door and all Larry, Moe, and Curly came to see what was going on. The bell-boy said that the men paid too much money and handed each man, Larry, Moe, and Curly a single dollar back (remember that the bell-boy kept two dollars for himself). As the bell-boy did this each man in turn said, "I paid ten dollars and now I'm getting one dollar back. so I only paid nine dollars for this fabulous room!" Here is your question. $9+ $9+ $9 = $27 (what each man paid) and the $2 in the bell-boys waist band account for $29. Where EXACTLY is the other missing dollar?

Answer:

There is no missing dollar.

Step-by-step explanation:

The question adds twice the $2 kept by the bell boy. Each one paid $9, so $27 of which the room cost 25 and the bellboy kept 2. Each one received 1 dollar back. Room($25)+Bellboy($2)+Change($3)=$30

If we say 27(room)+2(bellboy) you are accounting for the tip twice

Jon places a dot on a coordinate plane at (-10, -4). He wants to place another dot across the y axis, and it must be 14 points a
bazaltina [42]
At (4,-4). Because, the first value is the horizontal x-coordinate and the second is the vertical y-coordinate, so the direction of going across the y-axis is a horizontal movement. Therefore, you must add 14 to the x-coordinate. You add because positive is the opposite direction of the your first x-coordinate, -10. So the answer is (4,-4).

How many distinguishable ways can the letters of the word millimicron be arranged in order?
soldi70 [24.7K]

total no. of letters = 11

millimicron

dissecting will give us:

no. of m = 2, no. of i = 3, no. of l = 2, no. of c = 1, no. of n =1, no. of r = 1, no. of o = 1

we are going to compute this by using permutation

total no. of ways to arrangement = 11!/ [ 2!* 3! * 2! * 1! *1! *1! *1!]

= 39,916,800/ 24

= 1,663,200 is the answer
