"A Witch Trial at Mount Holly" was an untitled article that narrates the trial of two people on charges of witchcraft. The two accused- one man and one woman, were both accused of practicing witchcraft, making sheep dance and the hogs sing. Some sources claimed this article to be written by Benjamin Franklin satirizing the practice of witchcraft hunting.

In the story, the accused were tried as hard as possible just to make them be convicted. The use of the words "<em>scrutiny</em>" and "<em>search</em>" only shows how hard the accusers tried to judge them, hoping to make sure they stand correct in their accusations. These words only suggest how the accused were made to be under immense pressure to be found guilty. When the initial idea of weighing them against the Bible didn't work, they were made to be thrown in the water. Even then, some of them still refused to accept the fair (from the accuser's side) judgement. This only shows how judgmental the accusers were.
