a_n=4(a_{n-1})
means the nth term is 4 times the previous term

first term is 0.5
means the next one is 0.5 times 4 or 2
hum, geometric sequence

we can write it as
a_n=a_1(r)^{n-1}
where
a_n is the nth term
a_1 is the first term
r is the common ratio (what you multiply each term by to get the next term)
n is which term

so first term is 0.5
common ratio is 4
so therfor
a_n=0.5(4)^{n-1}
answer is E

On the first day of ticket sales the school sold 1 senior citizen ticket and 5 child tickets for a total of $60. The school took
Stells [14]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Let's start off with the first equation

5x + y = 60

We need to find what X and Y are.

Let's try subtracting a few numbers from 60.

Let's do 60 - 55 = 5

11x5 = 55

11 = Children Ticket Cost

5 = Seniors Ticket Cost

Without them being the same price!

So using the numbers we found, we can now solve the second one

14x5 = 70

11x11 = 121

70 + 121 = 191

There we go!

Hope this helped! Please give brainiest if you can :)

A number is greater than 8. The same number is less than 10. The inequalities x greater-than 8 and x less-than 10 represent the
jok3333 [9.3K]

Answer:

There are a few solutions because there are some fractions and decimals between 8 and 10

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the unknown number be 'x'

If the number is greater than 8 and the same number is less than 10, this can be expressed as;

x>8 and x < 10

Note that if x>8, then 8<x

The resulting inequalities are now;

8<x and x<10

Combining both inequalities we have: 8<x<10

Since the inequality didn't tell us that the variable 'x' is equal to 8 and 10, this means that our solution falls between 8 and 10 and the value of integer that falls within this range is 9. Other values that falls within this range are decimals and fractions.

Therefore it can be concluded that there are a few solutions because there are some fractions and decimals between 8 and 10

A. Describe the connection of the pattern of outcomes to Pascal’s triangle.
pychu [463]

Answer:

The answer to the question is;

A. The pattern of outcomes of 0 heads, 1 head, 2 heads ... n heads when arranged in the Pascal's triangle is given by the row of the triangles with the lowest at the edges and highest  outcome in the middle potion of the rows in the Pascal's triangle.

B. The number of total possible outcomes in a row n is 2ⁿ.

Step-by-step explanation:

To solve the question, we note that.

Pascal's triangle is an important sequence of numbers formed by starting with 1 at the top of the triangle followed by 1s on the outer edges of the triangle and the numbers directly below two adjacent numbers is the sum of the two adjacent numbers.

In probability theory, such as in throwing a coin,  Pascal's triangle indicates the number of possible heads obtained when n number of coins is thrown, that is, 0 heads, 1 head 2 heads etc. as follows

Number of coins                          Possible head outcome             Total outcome

0 coin                                                      1                                                 1

1 coin                                                      1  1                                               2

2 coins                                                  1  2 1                                             4

3 coins                                                 1  3  3 1                                          8

4 coins                                               1  4  6 4  1                                       16

The above triangle means that when

0 coin is flipped, the number of 0 heads is  1

1 coin  is flipped, the number of 0 heads is 1 (T) and 1 head is 1 (H)

2 coins are flipped, the number of 0 heads is 1, (TT), 1 head is 2 (TH), (HT) and 2 heads is 1 (HH)

3 coins are flipped 0 heads = 1 (TTT), 1 head = 3, (TTH), (THT), (HTT), the number of 2 heads = 3, (HHT), (HTH), (TTH) and the number of 3 heads = 1, (HHH).

B. The pattern in the number of total possible outcomes is

1, 2, 4, 8, 16 which is =2 raised to the power of the number of coin tossed for a particular row as follows

Number of coin tossed = 0  = 2⁰ = 1 = Total possible outcome

Number of coin tossed = 1  =  2¹ =  2 = Total possible outcomes

Number of coin tossed = 2  = 2² = 4 = Total possible outcomes

Number of coin tossed = 3  = 2³ = 8 = Total possible outcomes

Number of coin tossed = 4  = 2⁴ = 16 = Total possible outcomes

Therefore total number of possible outcome = 2ⁿ where n = number of coins tossed.
