There are many ordered pairs that would work for this equation. You can choose any y value as long as it is greater than or equal to 5/3x + 1/3.

For instance, we could use (1, 3).

5x + 1 < 3y
5(1) + 1 < 3(3)
5 + 1 < 9
6 < 9 (TRUE)

But many other order pairs will work as well.

What is the solution to the system ?
riadik2000 [5.3K]

Answer:

(-3, 2)

Step-by-step explanation:

The coordinate pair of the point where both lines intercept is the solution of the system.

From the graph given, both lines intercept at the point where x = -3 and y = 2.

Therefore, the solution to the system = (-3, 2)

Solve the system of equations below using the substitution method. y = 3x − 1y = - 4x 6
den301095 [7]

Answer:

x = 1; y = 2

Step-by-step explanation:

y = 3x − 1

y = -4x + 6

In the first equation, y = 3x - 1.

Substitute 3x - 1 for y in the second equation.

3x - 1 = -4x + 6

7x = 7

x = 1

Substitute 1 for x in the first original equation.

y = 3x - 1

y = 3(1) - 1

y = 3 - 1

y = 2

Solution: x = 1; y = 2
