During the winter months, water on the surface of a pond will typically freeze and this ice acts as an insulator for the water b

Answer:

when the water freezes, its molecules are perfectly ordered and separated from each other at the same distance. This generates, that in the ice there are less water molecules in a certain volume, that is, they occupy more space.

The ice (frozen water) when expanding, causes its density to become lower than in a liquid state. For this reason the ice floats in the water and allows life under frozen lakes.

What evidence for the age of the Earth is indicated by the fact that sedimentary rock is found on mountain tops?
ruslelena [56]
Undisturbed rock formations on mountain tops are basically an indication of the Earth's age. This can be supported by the law of proposition. This law states that the youngest sediments or rock are found at the top of the sequence and the oldest are found at the bottom - given they're undisturbed. So the higher mountain tops or rocks formation are, the more we can say that the Earth is indeed very old.

Cell walls are made out of cellulose. What type of organic compound is this?
AleksandrR [38]
Organic compound is generally any chemical compound that contains carbon. Due to carbon's ability to catenate (form chains with other carbon atoms), millions of organic compounds are known. Study of the properties and synthesis of organic compounds is the discipline known as organic chemistry. For historical reasons, a few classes of carbon-containing compounds (e.g., carbonates and cyanides), along with a handful of other exceptions (e.g., carbon dioxide), are not classified as organic compounds and are considered inorganic. No consensus exists among chemists on precisely which carbon-containing compounds are excluded, making the definition of an organic compound elusive.[1]Although organic compounds only make up a small percentage of the Earth's crust, they are of central importance because all known life is based on organic compounds. Most synthetically produced organic compounds are ultimately derived from petrochemicalsconsisting mainly of hydrocarbons.

MrRa [10]
Crossing over gives the offspring sort of a genetic variation twist. This will mix our two genes and make them diverse, but together.

Some of the intestinal symptoms elicited by pathogens such as salmonella, shigella, and escherichia are due to the presence of
satela [25.4K]

Answer: Some of the intestinal symptoms elicited by pathogens such as salmonella, shigella, and Escherichia are due to the presence of lipopolysaccharides.

Pathogen associated molecular patterns binds to toll like receptors to elicit a response include lipopolysaccharide or LPS. The bacterial component interaction with the host involves LPS and other components of cell wall causing a septic shock. The triggering of any event of septic shock is directly related to the release of LPS or other bacterial toxins into circulation. Pathogen associated molecular patterns are the molecules which are made by the pathogen and needed for their survival or pathogenic character includes LPS.
