Answer:

Soldiers were avoided because many Americans did not support the war.

Explanation:

The US military promoted many atrocities during the Vietnam War, and the economic cost of this war was enormous. The American population disapproved of this conflict, thought it was unethical, cruel and unnecessary.

Without the support of the people and in the face of various defeats, even with a modern military arsenal, even using chemical weapons, the United States accepted the ceasefire in 1973, withdrawing from the conflict in 1975. The return of the soldiers to the house, was an event without animation because soldiers were avoided by the population as a result of the unpopularity of the war.

The Gulf of Tonkin Resolution <span> authorized the president to take "all necessary measures to repel armed attack" in Vietnam.

This resolution had significant consequences for the Vietnam War and beyond that time.  In regard to the Vietnam War, it provided the justification for the president, Lyndon Johnson, to escalate US involvement in the war and magnify the number of US troops there by hundreds of thousands.  In US foreign policy in general, it represented an increase of the power of the Commander in Chief (the president) to deploy troops without getting formal approval in advance from Congress.
