Trust is best described as one's faith or belief in the integrity or reliability of another person or thing. You trust, or believe somebody's words if they seem sincere or reliable to you. You place your trust in someone if they are close to you, if you feel like you can rely on them, and then you can trust them to keep your secret. You also believe their words because you know they are true.
