Answer:

Bottom left graph

Step-by-step explanation:

Given are four graphs and we have to find out which is a function.

Any mapping from ordered pair x to y is a relation.

All relations need not be functions

A relation is a function only if the graph satisfies the vertical line test.

i.e. if we draw any vertical line in any point of the domain the line should cut the curve only at one point.  Even if this is violated for one point, the relation is not a function

In the graph given, I one on top left has so many points on the vertical line. Hence not a function.  II is a parabola open right and vertical line cuts atleast in two points one above and one below the x axis and not a funciton.

Bottom right most is a circle and any vertical line has two points of intersection above and below the x axis.

Bottom left is a graph since any vertical line cuts at only one point.

Answer is bottom left graph

The one in the bottoms left corner since no x values are repeated more than once

First make a substitution and then use integration by parts to evaluate the integral. (Use C for the constant of integration.) x
e-lub [12.9K]

Answer:

(\frac{x^{2}-25}{2})ln(5+x)-\frac{x^{2}}{4}+\frac{5x}{2}+C

Step-by-step explanation:

Ok, so we start by setting the integral up. The integral we need to solve is:

\int x ln(5+x)dx

so according to the instructions of the problem, we need to start by using some substitution. The substitution will be done as follows:

U=5+x

du=dx

x=U-5

so when substituting the integral will look like this:

\int (U-5) ln(U)dU

now we can go ahead and integrate by parts, remember the integration by parts formula looks like this:

\int (pq')=pq-\int qp'

so we must define p, q, p' and q':

p=ln U

p'=\frac{1}{U}dU

q=\frac{U^{2}}{2}-5U

q'=U-5

and now we plug these into the formula:

\int (U-5)lnUdU=(\frac{U^{2}}{2}-5U)lnU-\int \frac{\frac{U^{2}}{2}-5U}{U}dU

Which simplifies to:

\int (U-5)lnUdU=(\frac{U^{2}}{2}-5U)lnU-\int (\frac{U}{2}-5)dU

Which solves to:

\int (U-5)lnUdU=(\frac{U^{2}}{2}-5U)lnU-\frac{U^{2}}{4}+5U+C

so we can substitute U back, so we get:

\int xln(x+5)dU=(\frac{(x+5)^{2}}{2}-5(x+5))ln(x+5)-\frac{(x+5)^{2}}{4}+5(x+5)+C

and now we can simplify:

\int xln(x+5)dU=(\frac{x^{2}}{2}+5x+\frac{25}{2}-25-5x)ln(5+x)-\frac{x^{2}+10x+25}{4}+25+5x+C

\int xln(x+5)dU=(\frac{x^{2}-25}{2})ln(5+x)-\frac{x^{2}}{4}-\frac{5x}{2}-\frac{25}{4}+25+5x+C

\int xln(x+5)dU=(\frac{x^{2}-25}{2})ln(5+x)-\frac{x^{2}}{4}+\frac{5x}{2}+C

notice how all the constants were combined into one big constant C.

In 1979, zoologists estimated the number of fish in a local pond to be about
rewona [7]

Answer:

693 fish

Step-by-step explanation:

In 10 years, we can tell that the amount of fish increased by 1.833...(990 divided by 540) times. If we divide 1.833... by 10, we can find how much the pond increases by yearly. we get 0.1833... If we multiply that by 7 (because the gap between 1986 and 1979 is 7 years), we get 1.2833... So, if we multiply 540 by 1.28333..., we get 693 fish.

Answer:

3/4

Step-by-step explanation:

The mean of a data set is synonymous with the average. To find the mean, add up all the values in the data set and then divide by the number of elements.

From the table, there is 12 values. Thus, add up all the 12 values and then divide by 12:

\bar x=\frac{(-3)+4+8+(-1)+(-4)+(-2)+0+2+5+2+(-3)+1}{12}

Simplify:

\bar x=\frac{9}{12}

Reduce:

\bar x=3/4

Therefore, the mean of the data set is 3/4.

For the data set, this means that the average person guesses the temperature too high by about 3/4°F.

(Note: the symbol of x with a bar over it denotes the mean of a set)

If you rolled a fair number cube 1-6, 12 times, about how many times would you expect to roll a 5 or a 6?
Sav [38]
Well it is definately not c haha. I would say 3 because it is a pretty even chance of getting three.
