A = (1/2)base*height

Since this is an equilateral triangle each side is 34 inches, the altitude bisects the base into two 17 inch segments

There is now a right triangle with a base of 17 inches and a hypotenuse of 34 inches, so the pythagorean theorem (a^2 + b^2 = c^2) can be used

17^2 + b^2 = 34^2
or b^2 = 34^2 - 17^2
b^2 = 867 (take the square root of both sides)
b = 17\sqrt{3}
so the height of the equilateral triangle is 17\sqrt{3}

A = (1/2)(34)(17\sqrt{3})
A = 500.56 square inches

The display of a student's calculator shows: 1.2731568
8_murik_8 [283]

Answer:

rational

Step-by-step explanation: because the decimal terminates, it is necessarily rational - specifically, rational with a denominator that is a power of 10. Thus 1.3 = 13/10, 0.5761 = 5761/10000, and

1.2731568 = 12731568/10000000.

Prove identity: tanx-1/tanx+1= 1-cotx/1+cotx
Marina CMI [18]
to answer the question above, take the LHS.
[(tan x - 1) / (tan x + 1)] =

Remember that tan x = 1 / cot x.
{[(1 / cot x) - 1] / [(1 / cot x) + 1]} =

The LCD is cot x. Multiply as needed to get the common denominator for all terms.
{[(1 / cot x) - 1(cot x / cot x)] / [(1 / cot x) + 1(cot x / cot x)]} =
{[(1 / cot x) - (cot x / cot x)] / [(1 / cot x) + (cot x / cot x)]} =

Then Simplify.
[(1 - cot x) / cot x] / [(1 + cot x) / cot x] =

Remember that (a / b) / (c / d) = (a / b) * (d / c).
[(1 - cot x) / cot x] * [cot x / (1 + cot x)] =
[(1 - cot x) / (1 + cot x )] =
RHS
The answer is
[(tan x - 1) / (tan x + 1)] = [(1 - cot x) / (1 + cot x )]

ASAP SERIOUSLY PLEASE HELP IVE ASKED THIS QUESTION SO MANY TIMES NO ONE IS ANSWERING
Bess [88]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

For Perimeter, just times both sides by 2 then add those together:

2(5x+2) + 2(3x+8) = 10x +4 +6x +16 = 16x + 20

If they want a solid #:

16x/16 = -20/16

x = -5/4

16(-5/4) + 20

-20 + 20 = 0

However, I think the first answer would the most likely

For Area, multipy the 2 sides using the box method, foil, etc.

I like using the box method (see image)

For the rest, its basically the same thing. The triangle is just adding the sides together

Hope this help! -w-
