Do predators really kill only old and sick prey

Yes but they hunt other animals as well. They need to eat.

redatory animal do target the older and/or weaker prey purely because they understand those animals would be easier to take down. But on the other hand, predators do not exclusively hunt older or sick prey. They usually just single one animal out and chase.
