Answer:

<u>It is best to prepare for days of necessity. </u>

Explanation:

The theme is the lesson or moral of a story or piece of writing and that we can apply to our lives. We can find the main theme of a story by trying to understand or analyze what happens because themes are rarely stated directly. In this passage, the theme is “It is best to prepare for days of necessity” because while the ants worked during summer to get their food, the Grasshopper spent it singing and now that it was winter, he was not prepared at all and had to beg the ants for food, but the ants refused to help the lazy grasshopper. The grasshopper, indeed, should have prepared for days of necessity.

I think the answer is It is best to prepare for the days of necessity. I believe it is this bc the grasshopper spent the summer singing instead of getting food for the winter.

Answer:

OA. "It was one of these regular summer storms."

Explanation:

Mark Twain's "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" is an adventurous tale of a young, free-spirited boy named Huckleberry "Huck" Finn and his experience in trying to live his life the way he wanted. The entertaining tale follows Huck and his friends on their 'journey' of life.

Based on the given excerpt, we can see that the narrator Huck seemed unfazed by the storm and thunder. He simply describes the events outside the cavern, nonchalantly stating that <em>"Pretty soon it darkened up, and begun to thunder and lighten; so the birds was right about it. Directly it begun to rain, and it rained like all fury, too, and I never see the wind blow so. It was one of these regular summer storms." </em>He also stated how <em>"the rain would thrash along, [. . .] a blast of wind that would bend the trees down..."</em>

But despite all these events, he simply stated that the storm was<em> "one of these regular"</em> ones. This <u>shows that he is unconcerned about the storm.</u>

How did people redefine the word American during the 20th century
ra1l [238]

Answer:

The 20th century was a time of enormous changes in American life. The beginning of the 21st century seems a suitable time to look back over the past 100 years and see how the United States has developed, for better and worse, during that period of its history.

In the early decades of the 20th century the American people benefited from industrial growth while also experiencing its adverse effects. Cheap labor and assembly-line manufacturing made mass production possible. Railroad networks carried the mass-produced goods, many of them the result of new technologies, around the country. Montgomery Ward, J.C. Penney, and other retailers expanded their operations and laid the foundation for the consumer-driven society that evolved later in the century. Materially, city dwellers' standards of living improved steadily, not only in food, shelter, housing, and other material goods, but also in health care and education. Inexpensive books, magazines, newspapers, and improved public libraries, funded in part through the benevolence of Andrew Carnegie, contributed to their intellectual lives. Sexual fulfillment in marital relationships continued to gain importance, and family life increasingly reflected the ideals of companionship. Silent films and amateur and professional sports helped fill leisure time. The Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, founded in 1908 and 1910, provided recreational and educational opportunities for children.

Determined to make the most of the nation's abundant natural, human, and financial resources, the government supported industrial growth by enacting protective tariffs, welcoming throngs of immigrants, providing railroad subsidies, maintaining a patent system, and looking the other way when abuses occurred. Advocates of Social Darwinism's "survival of the fittest" principles and believers in the doctrine of laissez-faire encouraged a climate resistant to government intervention on behalf of disadvantaged workers and victims of racial, ethnic, or gender discrimination

zloy xaker [14]

O. Henry's uses third-person narration in "After Twenty Years" affects the story as:

- it allows the reader to get to know each character.

O.Henry uses third person narrative to build surprise until the end of the story. Third person narration gives an insight of the story not through any character's perspective rather through a third person. This helps the writer to hold the climax of the story until the end.
