Okay, so basically the story is taking place at the bank.
You know this because tellers are at banks, not necessarily shops. You also know this because Mr. Holland is exchanging money. This story is happening "today," because the teller asks Mr Holland if, "there is anything I can help you with <em>today</em>." The story is also in present time.
