What causes did Dorothea Dix promote in the early 19th century
cricket20 [7]
Dorothea Dix promoted and established the Asylum Movement, where mental institutions where created and health and hygiene in prisons was improved. This came after Dorothea visited and documented the treatment of prisoners and the living conditions within the prisons, both public and private. When she released her findings it shocked the general public, which lead to old hospitals being redesigned and repurposed for the use of mental facilities. The hospitals were built according to Dorothea's designs and with her guidance, there is now a widespread movement to reform the treatment of the mentally ill.

choli [55]

answer

roughly 80 days

explanation

The Middle Passage itself lasted roughly 80 days, on ships ranging from small schooners to massive, purpose-built "slave ships." Humans were packed together on or below decks without space to sit up or move around. Without ventilation or sufficient water, about 15% grew sick and died.

Who does Schenck compare a drafted soldier to? Do you agree disagree? Why?
Pie

Answer:

Schenck compares a drafted soldier to a slave/involuntary servant. I agree with Schenck.

Explanation:

I agree with Schenck because a drafted soldier is an ordinary citizen who is selected against their will to serve for the United States military. Said citizen has no say in the matter, as to say no would be to break the law, punishable by jail time and fines. Said citizen is also being drafted as a consequence of something the United States government and/or military did or decided to do. It is not for something the citizen has done. This citizen may be harmed or even killed in the line of duty, all for no fault of their own and without them ever being able to object in the entire process.
