The Athenians got the goods they needed by trading and buying. Athens was located four miles from the Aegean sea which opened them up to trade. They had a very busy port. Also the Athenians had there own currency which were coins made with bronze, silver, and gold. The Athenians bought and traded goods at a market called the agora.

Détente was the period of better relationships between the United States and the Soviet Union. It began in1971 during the visit of President Richard M. Nixon in Moscow to talk with the secretary-general of soviet Union. The gain in both countries was in increased trade and reduced dangers of nuclear warfare. The Russia trip come after a historic diplomatic trip to China that mostly focused on foreign policies achievements. The president’s trip to China heightened Russia’s interest in détente. The agreements in the Russia’s trip were on arms control, cooperative research in various areas (space exploration and increased commerce).
