To write a Sonnet, First we should know some basics information about it.
A sonnet shows a single idea, but it is generally an idea that evolve and expands, with multiple facets, leading to a conclusion – and all within a very specified rhyming scheme.
There are three simple steps to write sonnet-
- Think of an idea for your sonnet.
The idea can be about your feeling, thoughts, person, favourite items etc.
- Your sonnet must rhyme in a specific pattern
Your 14 line sonnet must be written in three sets of four lines and one set of two lines.
- Your sonnet must have a metrical pattern
In this write your sonnet in iambic pentameter. That means that you must use iambus. Iambus is another word for a two-syllable foot.

Dear diary,
My parents started fighting and it really made me feel very uncomfortable. I started bursting into tears! I had no one to talk to about it! After I started to calm down a like bit I decided to write how I feel about arguments. It went something like this.
The second reason that we often say the wrong thing is because our first instincts are usually off. In fact, it’s often the words we lead with that get us into so much trouble. “That’s because too often we end up framing the issue as who’s right or who’s wrong,”Instead of trying to understand what’s really happening in a disagreement, we advocate for our position. I’m sitting on my bed writing this, I have to stop writing because I have school tomorrow. I hope tomorrow will be a better day.
Russell Wayne Baker was born on August 14th 1925 in Virginia, USA. He is an American writer winner of the Pulitzer Prize in 1982 for his autobiography “Growing up”. Apart from being a writer, he was a columnist for the New York Times from 1962 to 1998. He is perhaps better known for introducing the TV program “Master Piece Theater” from the PBS Network.
From his autobiographic story “Growing up”, the excerpt tittle “No Gumption” presents the main idea that:
