How do writers use direct characterization in a story?

English
1 answer:
Lady_Fox [76]3 years ago

Writers use direct characterization by revealing a characters personality. The writer has to say the characters personality directly.
Example: "The boy was very shy but very funny."
This sentence tells us the boy is funny but shy.

Direct and indirect characterization can easily get confused. Indirect is basically what we judge the character to be. Like appearance, actions and words.
Example: I see that Shaun isn't very smart because he fails all his exams.

Hopefully this makes sense and I helped. Good luck :)

Columbus sailed a latitude that he thought would bring him to what country?
salantis [7]

Answer: Japan

Explanation:

Christopher Columbus may have been the first recorded European to reach the Americas but this was not his original target. Columbus had wanted to get to Japan and from there, Asia and it never even occurred to him that the Americas might be in the way of this.

So he sailed on a latitude that he thought would take him to Japan which was why he mistook Cuba for China and Hispaniola for Japan when his voyage reached those islands.

How is the setting important to the plot and theme of the story diary of wimpy kid book 1
s2008m [1.1K]
The plot is about how middle schoolers evolve. The setting of the school shows the everyday life of the main middle schooler going through the struggles of being a preteen and the preparation for high school. (If this doesn’t help google the plot of the story and think about the setting and the the relation.)
