If f(x) is an exponential function where f(4) =17 and f (12.5) = 31, then find the value of f(18.5), to the nearest hundredth.
Svetradugi [14.3K]
Solution: f(18.5)=31.47

Step by step solution:
I started by making an equation in slope intercept form- I found the slope, 28/17, with the points (4, 17) and (12.5, 31). Then I found the y intercept, 1, with the point (4, 17). So the equation is y=28/17x+1. Then I just plugged 18.5 where the x is and solved for y

28/17(18.5)+1=y
28/17(37/2)+1=y
1036/34+1= y
30.47+1=y
y=31.47

Keep in mind that 1036/34 is not exactly 30.47 but that 30.47 was rounded to the nearest hundredth

Hope this helps :)

John wants to measure the height of a tree.he walks exactly 100 ft from the base of the tree and looks up.the angle from the gro
kati45 [8]

Answer: The height of the tree is 64.94ft

Step-by-step explanation:

Using the trigonometry of angles

Tan theta = opposite/adjacent

Tan 33° = height of the tree/100

Height of the tree= tan 33° * 100

= 0.6494*100

= 64.94ft

The height of the tree is 64.94ft

Find the length of a diagonal of a square with sides 10in. long
Ghella [55]
Hey!!!
Answer is....
diagonals of square bisect each other at right angles.
let diagonal be 2x
Using Pythagoras in a triangle enclosed by a side and 2 half diagonals...
{x}^{2}  +  {x}^{2}  =  {10}^{2}
2 {x}^{2}  = 100
{x }^{2}  = 50
x =  \sqrt{50}
side of a diagonal=2 sqrt50
= 10 \sqrt{2}
