In Civil Cases, reason being <span>the judge cannot order imprisonment in a civil case, unless someone is in contempt of court. Contempt of court includes not following a court order, or failing to show the proper respect for a judge or for court rules within the case</span>

Civil is not about being guilty or innocent, its about culpability and liability. If a person is found not guilty in criminal court, they can still be sued in civil court.
