Women could not work. They could not vote. Men did not show respect for women. When women did have jobs, they were payed less. Women could never use a swear word. They were expected to marry at a young age. Women couldn’t smoke in public. Women were only meant to have babies. They did all chores.
At the time, America was in The Great Depression, and most women were unemployed(around 10 million). They received lower pay if they worked, and were often expected to stay at home.
The English treated the Natives as inferior, believed they stood in the way of their God-given right to the land in America and tried to subject the Natives to their laws as they established their colonies.
