How important was christianity in providing inspiration for the American revolutionaries? (In U.S. History)

The role of Christianity was very important in the process.
Back then, the revolutionists used God and preacher to gained support and volunteers for the revolution.
Conducting by telling the preachers to teach how bad it is to live under a tyrant (directed at british empire) and how they would win the war because God is at their side.
