The reactants create a series of oxidation/reduction or redox reactions. This reaction is where the hydrogen loses two electrons through the process of oxidation. Upon such reaction, the 2 electrons now become positive and can be gained by fluorine which is eventually reduced in the equation. This is a a basic chemical balancing equation that occurs in the chemical table.
