Problem 1:

The temperature in one winter morning in Edinburgh was -6°C. By 2 PM, the temperature had increased by 5 degrees. What was the temperature by 2 PM?

Answer:
Refer to the first number line. You would start counting five units to the right from -6. You would stop at -1 and that is the answer to the question

Problem 2:

Anna had $4 balance in her bank account. She used her debit card to purchase a meal deal that costs $5. Her bank account allows overdraft. What amount would her bank statement shows if Anna had not deposit any money since her last purchase?

Answer: Over draft means that a bank allows their customer to make purchase more than what they've got left in their balance but this means the customer will be in debt to the bank. Anna had $4 in the bank and she made a purchase of $5. Her bank statement would show

4 - 5 = -1

Using the number line, you would start from 4 and count back 5 to get to -1

Answer:

third option: log_2  1/3

Step-by-step explanation:

change of base formula:

log_b  a= (log_x a)/(log_x b)

(log 1/3)/(log 2)

apply reverse change of base formula

2 from log 2 becomes new base, and 1/3 becomes the other number

We have five samples of data: sample A with 30 successes of 50 cases, sample B with 600 successes of 1000 cases, sample C with 3
faust18 [17]

Answer:

C. with 3000 successes of 5000 cases sample

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that we need to test if the proportion of success is greater than 0.5.

From the given options, we can see that they all have the same proportion which equals to;

Proportion p = 30/50 = 600/1000 = 0.6

p = 0.6

But we can notice that the number of samples in each case is different.

Test statistic z score can be calculated with the formula below;

z = (p^−po)/√{po(1−po)/n}

Where,

z= Test statistics

n = Sample size

po = Null hypothesized value

p^ = Observed proportion

Since all other variables are the same for all the cases except sample size, from the formula for the test statistics we can see that the higher the value of sample size (n) the higher the test statistics (z) and the highest z gives the strongest evidence for the alternative hypothesis. So the option with the highest sample size gives the strongest evidence for the alternative hypothesis.

Therefore, option C with sample size 5000 and proportion 0.6 has the highest sample size. Hence, option C gives the strongest evidence for the alternative hypothesis
