I believe the answer is: Prophet Muhammad's Belief of giving to the poor most disturbed the Arabs.

The traditional belief at that time put strict establishment of  social status ina  really high regard. So many rich people at that time see his action as something ridiculous. This cause the prophet to had many enemies from people from higher status.
