During life, human beings go through different stages or phases that are related to different needs, roles, etc. In the case of the generativity vs stagnation phase, this is proposed by Erik Erikson as one of the last phases of life as it occurs when people are around 65 years old. This phase implies people being confronted between not finding a way to contribute to the world or society (stagnation) or finding a way to contribute or give back to society (generativity) usually by raising children or helping other people. Therefore, it is true during the generativity versus stagnation phase adults feel a need to give back to society often by raising children.
