'Coming of age' refers to this growth and development while the realization of 'loss of innocence' is the fundamental stage to establish the transition from youth to adulthood and attain maturity and develop as a character inclusively. D.H. Lawrence's most popular work 'Sons and lovers' is a classic example of this genre where Paul Morel undergoes this development and evolves as a character.
