They are both on the end of the Pacific rim. They both have an above average number of volcanoes, and they are steeper and more narrow then other mountain ranges. This is a result of their both straddling and colliding continental plates and being on top of very active geological fault lines.
It is all related because in order for a speices to exist or live it must have an relative abundance of land or food in their territories. There also must be a diveristy in mates so that there is no inbreeding. DIversity can also come from the different colors of the species which can show the environment they live(d) in which can help sometimes ward off other predators. I hope this helps.
