How did Andrew Jackson supporters portray Jackson during his campaign?
daser333 [38]

Answer:

As a common man

Explanation:

During his campaign, Andrew Jackson was portrayed as a common man to prove that even common folk could get a position in the office; that the most important factor in one's career is not their lineage, but hard work. To gain the support of the voters, he portrayed himself as one of them. His election marked the beginning of the so-called Era of the Common Man, as before him politicians rose to their positions thanks to their family background, wealth, prestige, and education.

Which definition below best describes the meaning of the term sectionalism as it relates to pre-Civil War United States?
Reil [10]

Answer:

Right choice:

B. Putting interests of a particular section or region above those of the nation…this refers to the growing cultural and economic differences between the North and South in the years leading up to the Civil War.

Explanation:

The most divisive issue was slavery, free states versus slavery states, abolitionists of the North against the pro-slavery establishment in the South. The two parts of the USA had different economic systems, with the South being agrarian and the North being industrial. There were major divergent commercial and business interests, too.

Describe what the cotton gin was and explain how it impacted the United States in the early to mid- 1800s
Alekssandra [29.7K]

The cotton gin was innovated by Eli Whitney and is important to the 1800d because of what it did to the innovation of cotton production in the south. Prior to the machine, enslaved people were forced to hand process cotton, now with the machine, more cotton was able to be processed faster which allowed for slavery to continue and expand in the south so that more cotton could be sold to Britian (who did not have the land for cotton growing) and the northern factories to be made into clothes (increasing production of the industrial revolution especially with the Lowell mills). This will be important later with the Civil War as the south believes that Britian will support them because of their trading history and need for cotton (which of course is not done, due to racial tensions between the newly freed persons of Britian and the enslaved system of the South).
