Which of the following aqueous solutions should demonstrate the most non-ideal behavior? A. 0.1 M NaI B. 0.2 M CuSO4 C. 0.5 M KB
Maslowich

Answer:

D. 2.0 M CuCl2

Explanation:

The ionic strength of a solution shows the concentration of its ions in that given solution of the compound. Dissolved ionic compounds always dissociate into ions. The total amount of ions in solution will definitely affect the properties of the solution. The concept of ionic strength was first introduced by Lewis and Randall in 1921 while describing the activity coefficients of strong electrolytes.

The ionic strength of CuCl2 is 6M as shown:

ionic strength = 0.5*[(+2)^2*2M + (1-)^2*4M] = 6 M

The higher the ionic strength of a solution, the greater its non ideal behavior.

CuCl2 shows the greatest ionic strength hence the greatest non ideal behavior.

In order to observe a property of a substance, the substance must interact with another substance, such as when gasoline burns o
Shtirlitz [24]
This is mostly true for chemical properties. Physical properties however don't require other substances so as to check them out such as changing the state of matter, Turning water into ice does not require other substances, only water, and yet you can check the physical properties with it. Chemical properties are checked with experiments and careful observation of what happens when things are mixed.

Convert 7.50 mol of Li₂O to grams
Natali5045456 [20]

Answer:

223.5 g

Explanation:

The formula between the number of moles, mass and Mr can be used to convert moles to grams.

Number of moles = mass ÷ Mr

So, mass = number of moles × Mr

 Mr of Li₂O = (6.9 × 2) + 16 = 29.8

∴ Mass = 7.5 × 29.8 = 223.5 g
