Which type of environment likely has a lot of stomata
dalvyx [7]
Since stomata are affected by [CO2] and water vapor content of the air, an environment with high water vapor content (water potential) and high CO2 levels will likely have the highest #of stomata. I.e. when plants have readily available water source and ample CO2 in order to maximize photosynthesis. As far as geographic environment I think it varies quite a bit and there are competing hypotheses from what I understand

kifflom [539]

The answer is ‘in the dermal papillae of hairless skin’. Dermal papillae is the layer of the skin (upper dermis) with numerous blood vessels and nerves that serve the epidermis of the skin. Tactile corpuscles (nerves) are mostly found in this region and occur mostly in hairless thick skin such as in finger and toe tips.

Which statement below correctly explains and gives the importance of the endosymbiotic theory?
mr_godi [17]

Answer:

The statement that best explains the endosymbiotic theory is that the inner and outer membrane of the mitochondria indicates these were once free living organisms which were taken into an early cell via endocytosis. The theory was further supported by the fact that mitochondria have their own DNA and replicate via binary fission (option B).

Explanation:

The endosymbiotic theory is due to the evolutionary biologist Lynn Margulies, who through his postulates tried to establish evidence of the origin of eukaryotic cells, by incorporating a prokaryotic cell into the interior of others.

Mitochondria -besides chloroplasts- are one of the examples that support the endosymbiotic theory.  Both mitochondria and chloroplasts have characteristics and behavior similar to that of a bacterium (prokaryote):

  • They have their own circular double-stranded DNA.
  • They have 70S ribosomes.
  • Protein synthesis capacity.
  • They have membranes that allow them to carry out their functions.
  • Their division is carried out by binary fission.

These characteristics support that some organelles were at some time independent prokaryotic cells that were incorporated into other cells, by endocytosis.
