This put the country into extreme debt and brought German morale to an all-time low. The treaty paved the way for Hitler's extremist views coming into popularity with many of the lower-class citizens. Some say that the treaty is the leading cause of World War 2 as it caused Germany to feel complete hatred and fear for the allies, and failed to put proper restrictions onto German military.
