1. Why would some Southerners support a pro-slavery government if they did not believe in slavery? *
Dovator [93]

Answer:

A.

Explanation:

In reality, I bet all the answers are at least partly correct.

But the reason (or excuse) that people often gave was that the voters (no black people of course!) of each state should decide if they wanted to allow slavery.

They called it 'Popular Sovereignty' and it was a twisted argument that we could use a democratic process (voting) to decide that a certain class of people would get no democracy at all, or even be recognized as having ANY rights, like the right to not be owned and murdered.

How did the people of Northern Europe contribute to its advancement and success in the Renaissance period?
grin007 [14]

Answer:

Hiya there!

Explanation:

People in Northern Europe after the Hundred Years of War began to show interest in Renaissance which was happening in Italy. Painters from Northern Europe began to study the techniques of famous artists like Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci.

The Renaissance for the first time began to take place in Italy because of its city-states like Milan, Venice, Florence, and Genoa, which were wealthy and flourished because of the trade these cities conducted. Renaissance than started to spread in Northern region of the Alps through northern Europe traders, and scholars who came to Italy for study and in return brought back ideas, techniques, and philosophies. Jan van Eyck, Hans Holbein the Elder, and Albrecht Durer, some of the significant individuals played a principal role in contributing their work in paintings, engraving, and printworks.

What historical reasons did the northerners abolish slavery?
Gwar [14]

Hello! So America had always been home to people who felt that slavery was wrong and should be eliminated. These people, called abolitionists because they wanted to abolish or destroy slavery, denounced the practice as horrible and evil. Prior to the mid-nineteenth century, however, their efforts to eliminate slavery from U.S. soil failed to gather enough popular support because everyone knew how much the South depended on slaves to make its economy and society work. But in the 1830s and 1840s, organized opposition to slavery in the United States became more powerful and confrontational (meeting an issue head-on) than it had ever been before. Describing slavery as an evil and un-Christian system and a stain on the values enshrined in America's Declaration of Independence, the abolitionists finally convinced large numbers of Northerners that slavery should not continue. So i hope that help!
