A predicate adjective is the first adjective that follows a linking verb which connects two parts of a sentence (in this case, that verb is 'was'). So, the first adjective after was is 'sleek', so D is the correct answer.

In a speech in which he attempted to persuade the audience to support legislation restricting tobacco use, former Vice President
KatRina [158]

Answer:

- Emotion-arousing words to trigger audience response.

Explanation:

The authors often employ various persuasive techniques(ethos, logos, or pathos) to convince the audience to believe and accept the claim or idea proposed by the author.

In the given excerpt, the textbook tip for persuasion that Gore employed effectively would be 'emotion or ethos' which involves 'employing arousing or triggering words' that targets the emotions of the audience and elicit desired emotional response from them. The use of ethos is reflected by the description or inclusion of personal incident 'his sister dying of lung cancer' to substantiate his point('to restrict tobacco use').

No! Living there would be a nightmare for me, I'm what you would call "mixed." In the book you're reading the towns folk believe in segregation and punish those unjustly because of the color of their skin. It's also a very poor part of Alabama based on the description so schools would be awful, neighborhoods might be riddled with crime, and community resources would be very limited or non-existent (community centers, parks, hospitals, etc).

As for the second half, it was absolutely cruel. The parents should have kept a better eye on their children and reprimanded them for being so inconsiderate. They should have also educated them on letting other people just be since we're all different, with our own challenges.

Its all about decisions made through fear or goodness , once humans develop imagined fear anxiety , goodness is reduced and decisions become subjective rather than objective.
