Isolation is a method that countries undergo in able to essentially maintain a sense of self establishment and not intervene with other countries. Global affairs are no longer a priority, which means that a country is able to solely focus on their own economy, as well as their own national security. The major benefits would be the less you interact with other countries, the less chance you have to be attacked or targeted.
