The graph shows the solution to which system of equations?
Sedaia [141]
So let's start by guesstimating the slopes:
the green line has a slope close to -x, but more negative than that, possibly -2; the pink line has a slope close to +x, but higher towards +2.

Next let's look at the solution: the two lines intersect at the point (1, -1).
**you could just simple plug that x (1) into all the equations, but let's rule out answers anyway. ;)

A) is incorrect because the slopes of -1 and +1 are off from out predicted -2 and +2
B) is incorrect because of a similar reason, the slopes of +3 and +1 don't make any sense
C) Ooh, we do have a +2 and -2 for the slopes, and... violà! plug in 1 for the x's and we get -1 for the y in both equations
D) slopes are closer than in A and B, but plugging in 1 doesn't get us -1

So the correct answer is:
C) y = 2x - 3 and y = −2x + 1

6,000 dollars is invested in two different accounts earning 3%and 5% interest. At the end of the year, the two accounts earned 2
nadezda [96]
Hi there

To solve this question
0.03x+0.05 (6000-x)=220
Solve for x to know How much money was invested at 3%
First multiply the values
0.03x+0.05×6000-0.05x=220
0.03x+300-0.05x=220
Second calculate the difference and rearranging the values
0.03x-0.05x=220-300
-0.02x=-80
Divide both sides by-0.02 and divide the values
X=-0.02/-80
x=4000 invested at 3% this is the answer of your question

While the amount invested at 5% is
6000-4000=2000

Good luck!

A recreation center charges nonmembers $3 to use the pool and $5 to use the basketball courts. A person pays $42 to use the recr
Andrei [34K]
Let x = times in the pool
Let y = times in the basketball courts

42=3x+5y
x+y=12
Therefore y = 12-x
Subsitute for y
42 = 3x + 5(12-x)
42 = 3x + 60 -5x
Subtract 60
-18 = -2x
9 = x

The person used the pool 9 times.

Mandy has six boxes of pencils each box contains 10 to the fifth power of pencils how many pencils does Mandy have
Nonamiya [84]
You have to do 10•10•10•10•10 (multiply 10, 5 times). Once you multiply 10 five times, you end up with an answer of 100,000 pencils in each box. Then since you have 6 boxes of pencils you have to multiply 100,000•6, which equals 600,000 pencils total.

The slope is 4 because you go up 4 and over one which created the slope 4/1 which is just 4
