What did the radio version of the war of the worlds do to ensure that the audience would understand it was fictional
valentinak56 [21]

There were opening announcements made at the beginning of the radio adaptation of H.G. Wells’s The War of the Worlds, but what they did not anticipate is that the listeners who tuned in half-way through the radio play would have no idea that it was only a dramatization and would believe the news-like structure which understandably caused them distress.

The production team made lots of revisions, slowing down the pace of the first act, deleting some crucial scenes that would be tell-tale signs of a fictional work, and all this contributed to panic that ensued. The following day, there was a press conference held to clear all of it up.

Writing a paper for English and I need new perspectives. What have you learned from this experience being in quarantine? How did
olga2289 [7]

Answer:

I've learned that as much as I dislike people, being alone for weeks on end is not happy fun times. However, it lets me get to know myself, and learn new skills. I've learned how to apply for freelance work and I've learned how to embroider. I mostly look for new things to do and try as much as I can while I have time

Read the excerpt from Gilgamesh: A New English Version.

Gilgamesh answered, "Dear friend, dear brother, I cannot kill Humbaba alone. Please stay here with me. Stand at my side. 'Two boats lashed together will never sink. A three-ply rope is not easily broken.' If we help each other and fight side by side, what harm can come to us?"

The author includes this excerpt to establish Gilgamesh as

A.a compelling speaker.

B.a ruthless warrior.

C. devoted servant of Shamash.

D.a long-distance traveler.

The author includes this excerpt to establish Gilgamesh as a compelling speaker.

Answer: Option A

Explanation:

Gilgamesh is a central character and a hero from the epic poem ‘Gilgamesh’, which is all about bravery, courage, overcoming one’s fear, and power.

The excerpt provides a conversation between Enkidu and Gilgamesh, where Gilgamesh mentions that he cannot kill the monster Humbaba alone.

The author here depicts Gilgamesh as a compelling speaker, meaning the one who’s captivating and evokes interest in a powerful way.

When Gilgamesh says, ‘If we help each other and fight side by side, what harm can come to us’ it shows that he is powerful and courageous.
