I'll have to assume the bolded terms, but it's usually just the most unusual word in the sentence. if i answer one of them choosing the wrong bolded word, let me know.

4. "burnished" -- this word means polishing or rubbing. your answer should be B.

5. "casement" -- this is another word for window. your answer is A.

6. "temper" -- this usually relates to emotionality, so i think your best choice is C, frame of mind. way of speaking would be someone's tone and work ethic/singing don't really make sense.

7. "symmetry" -- in general, this word means that something is balanced or the same on either side of a divider. for example, a square is symmetrical if you draw a line straight down the middle. the letter A is symmetrical if you draw a line straight down the middle. i would say the answer is A, balanced form.

8. "sylvan" -- this word means something along the lines of woods, so B should be your answer. i remember this word by thinking "sylvia went to the woods" as sylvia and slyvan have similar starts.

According to the poem "Hanging Fire" all of the following are holding back the speaker except?
Alborosie
D. The narrator of the poem is a fourteen year old boy, who has lost confidence in himself because of his age and going older (lines 1-4); by his skin breaking out (line 2); the braces he wears (line 30); and due to his paranoia of dying young (lines 8, 15, 32). Illness is not implied as holding him back.
