Hecuba, Trojan ruler and courageous woman of traditional folklore. Prior in this scene Hamlet requests that the First Player present a mono-log retelling Hecuba's reaction to the passing of her better half, King Priam.  

The player keeps on presenting the lines of a discourse that Hamlet recollected about Priam's slaughter. Priam was the lord of Troy. Hecuba was his better half who seen Priam being hacked to death by the Greek Pyrrhus, the avenging child of Achilles. Gertrude grieved for her significant other (husband) as Hecuba improved the situation hers.
