Explanation: Slave labor was so important for the economy of the southern colonies because this economy was based on agriculture and that in this region there were large and numerous agricultural plantations thanks to its geographical and climatic conditions, so slave labor was required galore. There were large plantations of cotton, rice, sugar cane and tobacco among other products. The more they had slaves, the greater their agricultural production.
