Hello! To solve this, we will be using Pythagorean Theorem multiple times in order to find AC.
The formula that we will be using is c=sqrt(a^2+b^2) (A and B both being the legs and C being the hypotenuse of the triangle.)

First we need to figure out the measurement of AD, and we know that AB (which AD lies within) is 21, but that's the measurement for the entire leg, what is it for the separate triangles? Well, we'll use the measurements from the right-side triangle to find what B is (you switch up the formula and turn it into b=sqrt(c^2-a^2) )

The measurement of our hypotenuse is 17 (CB) and our leg for A is 8 (CD), so by plugging these measurements in, we see that our other leg is 15.

Now we're almost done. We subtract 15 from 21 (21 - 15) to get what the left-side triangle equals and we get 6. And since CD is shared by both triangles, we use the original formula to solve for the hypotenuse.

When you plug everything in, you'll see that the answer is 10.

AC is 10

RoseWind [281]

Answer:

1) Is more representative

Step-by-step explanation:

The problem with his selection is that maybe there are few students participating in certain sport and those students maybe do quite more excercise than the rest (or quite less). This will modify the results because the sample he selected is biased. This problem wont be solved by method 3 or 4, because he is still selecting students that may modify heavily the results with a high probability

This problem will also appear if he choose a sample by class. Maybe, in a class there are quite few students, and selecting from class will make those students appear quite more often than, lets say, a 7th grade student selected at random, therefore the selection is biased in this case as well.

If he has a list with all seventh grade students, each student is equallly likely to be selected and as a consequence, the the results wont be biased. Approach 1 is the best one.

Which graph represents a line with a slope of -2/3
sertanlavr [38]

Answer:

y=-\frac{2}{3} x-2

Step-by-step explanation:

the general equation for a line is:

y=mx+b

where m is the slope of the line, and b is the y-intercept.

Since we need a slope of -2/3:

m=-\frac{2}{3},

So far we have that the line must have the equation:

y=-\frac{2}{3} x+b

the graph of a line with a negative slope is one that "falls" from left to right in the plane. And the number \frac{2}{3} means that it falls at a ratio of 2 units in the y-axis for every 3 in the x-axis.

we are told that the y-intercept is that of the line:

y=\frac{2}{3} x-2 --> here the y-intercept is -2.

Thus the equation of the line we are looking for is:

y=-\frac{2}{3} x-2

which means that this line crosses the y-axis at -2, and the graph is the one in the attached image.
