A cell that is dividing and making a clone of itself needs to have its DNA replicated without mistakes otherwise these mistakes ( mutations) can be deadly to its offspring.

It is because if one or more wrong nucleotide gets inserted into daughter DNA strand during replication, which does not get repaired, it will be lead to mutation in daughter cell. This mutation will pass to all progeny cells and can cause lethal consequences, such as development of cancer.

Thus, DNA replication without any mistake is important to prevent mutations and keeping organisms in a stable healthy state.
