●जीवन परिचय-पंत जी का मूल नाम गोसाँई दत्त था। इनका जन्म 1900 ई. में उत्तरांचल के अल्मोड़ा जिले के कौसानी नामक स्थान पर हुआ। इनकी प्रारंभिक शिक्षा कौसानी के गाँव में तथा उच्च शिक्षा बनारस और इलाहाबाद में हुई। युवावस्था तक पहुँचते-पहुँचते महात्मा गाँधी के असहयोग आंदोलन से प्रभावित होकर इन्होंने पढ़ाई बीच में ही छोड़ दी। उसके बाद वे स्वतंत्र लेखन करते रहे। साहित्य के प्रति उनके अविस्मरणीय योगदान के लिए इन्हें कई पुरस्कारों से सम्मानित किया गया। इन्हें भारतीय ज्ञानपीठ पुरस्कार, साहित्य अकादमी पुरस्कार, सोवियत लैंड नेहरू पुरस्कार मिले। भारत सरकार ने इन्हें पद्मभूषण से सम्मानित किया। इनकी मृत्यु 1977 ई. में हुई।
