How would you describe the relationship between the United States and the Soviet Union at this time?
soldier1979 [14.2K]
At this time of course there is no more Soviet Union, but in the past, ie during WWII the two countries were allies both fighting against Hitler and the Nazis. During the Cold War there was contention between these two superpowers and wars such as the Vietnam War reflected this and tensions such as over the Cuban missile crisis were high.

Do you think English settlers and their native neighbors, including the Wampanoags, could have lived together in peace? Why or w
aleksklad [387]
I think they should have definitely but I do not think they could have. The English had been colonizing for hundreds of years and believed that they were superior. There are also obvious cultural differences. In English culture and society everything is owned by someone, the more you own the more important you are whereas most native cultures do not recognize the owning of land. Hunting and fishing practices are different as well as things such as agreements or deal are different. In native cultures these things are often spoken and are verbal agreements and are respected as such. In English culture nothing is permanent except written contracts. In my opinion there is almost no way the English colonizers would have given up the power that they felt they deserved in order to live equally and in peace with those indigenous to the lands they settled on.
