Three ways to estimate 3/5 × 9 1/2

Mathematics

The first way is distributive property of multiplication. 3/5*9=3/9÷5/1=27/5. 3/5*1/2=3*1/5*2=3/10. Then you add the products and you would get 57/10. Simplify 57/10 to 5 7/10. Second way, converting the mixed fraction to a improper fraction and then multiply. 9 1/2=9*2+1÷2=19/2. 3/5*19/2=3*19/5*2=57/10. Like I said before, 57/10 simplified is 5 7/10. The last way is use rounding of fractions to estimate the products, 3/5*9 1/2. Round 9 1/2 to 10. 3/5*10=3*10/5. 30/5=6, which means that 6 is the estimated product of rounding. Hoped I helped. :)

Find the Area of a square with length(x + 7) and width (x + 7)
ValentinkaMS [17]

Answer:

x^2 +14x+49

Step-by-step explanation:

Area = length * width

        = ( x+7) * ( x+7)

       FOIL

    first: x^2

    outer: 7x

   inner: 7x

    last: 7*7 = 49

Add them together

x^2 +7x+7x + 49

Combine like terms

x^2 +14x+49

Use complete sentences to analyze the graph of the function f(x) = log 1/3 x.
oksian1 [2.3K]
Y = log (1/3) x
Part 1:
Domain :  x ∈ ( 0, + ∞ ).
Range:  y ∈ R.
General shape: The graph is decreasing.
Part 2 :
We will choose those points: x = { 1/3,  1,  3,  9 }
Ordered pairs ( for graphing the function ) are :
f ( x ) = { ( 1/3, 1 ), ( 1. 0 ), ( 3, - 1 ), ( 9, - 2 ) }.
There is no y - intercept and x - intercept is 1.

P(A) = .6, P(B) = .3, P(
In-s [12.5K]

Answer:

D

0.4

Step-by-step explanation:

P(A)=0.6

P(B)=0.3

P(B∩A)=0.5

P(A∪B)=P(A)+P(B)-P(A∩B)

P(A or B)=P(A∪B)=0.6+0.3-0.5=0.9-0.5=0.4

Consider the line y=7x-3 fine the equation that pass through -5,6 of a perpendicular
Pavel [41]

Answer:

y=-\frac{1}{7}x+\frac{37}{7}

Step-by-step explanation:

Your equation is in slope-intercept form, y = mx + b, where m is the slope and b is the y-intercept.  Your line has a slope of 7.  In order to find the line perpendicular to this line, we have to take the opposite reciprocal of the slope.  The perpendicular slope to m = 7 is m = -1/7.  Now we go through x = -5 and y = 6 to find the new equation.

6 = -1/7(-5) + b gives us

6 = 5/7 + b and

b = 37/7

Therefore, the equation of the line perpendicular to your original line is

y = -\frac{1}{7}x + \frac{37}{7}

A famous monument is 300 ft tall. When it casts 210-ft shadow, a nearby tree casts a shadow that is 27 ft long. About how tall
Nataliya [291]

Answer:

38.57 feets

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that:

Height of monument, h = 300ft

Shadow of monument, s = 210 ft

Shadow of tree, s = 27ft

Height of tree, = x

Using the relation :

Height / shadow = height / shadow

Monument = tree

300 / 210 = h / 27

Cross multiply

300 * 27 = 210 * h

8100 = 210h

h = 8100 / 210

h = 38.57 feets
