It is A. The first estate  ( the clergy) and the second estate (the nobility) awarded themselves an almost equal power to the third estate (the commoners of Rural and Urban France). The 3rd estate had the largest number of people as its membership. (The third estate represented 98% of the entire population of France yet their numbers as represented by the Tennis Court Oath did not match their population numbers).

The oath was primarily concerned with trying to make the monarchy a just institution. Louis XVI issued orders to the 1st and 2nd estates who promptly rejected them and in an act of defiance, the joined with the 3rd estate. Louis backed down. So A is what you should be thinking about.

B came later much later.

C it wasn't several nobles. It was quite a few of them, and, as an afterthought, Louis ordered them to go to where the 3rd estate was.

D is a joke. Women were considered quite inferior to men, not just in France but everywhere. The United States didn't give women the right to vote until August of 1920.

E might be true. But A is more important. I think Louis did have control of at least his own person guard, but that is not certain. You should look at your notes for this one to be sure.

Question 2

It would seem to me that B was the main point of the paragraph you have quoted. I am sure that discussions of Geology or Biology or Chemistry, for example, would be favorably received. Remember that this is likely a very limited view of what was going on.
