You have cloned a gene for an enzyme that degrades lipids in a bacterium that normally lives in cold temps. you wish to use this

gene in E. coli to produce industrial amounts of enzyme for use in laundry detergent.
a. how would you accomplish this?
b. you have managed to produce transgenetic E. coli expressing mRNA of your gene, but only a low level of protein is produced. why might this be so? how can you overcome this problem?

A) You would have to incorporate that gene into the bacteria's plasmid (genetic information that isn't in its main genome) so that it can use it and express its message. This is done using enzymes that cut that circular plasmid, insert the gene you want, and put the circular molecule back together. Once you have the bacteria with the plasmid in it, you replicate that bacteria, so all the resulting copies will have that gene and they'll express it.

B) If not enough protein is being produced it could be because you don't have enough bacteria, you'd need a bigger population. The medium the bacteria is in also should be optimal so that it can be as efficient as possible.

1/4 recessive can be expected for the recessive trait of mono hybrids from the F2 generation.

Option D

Explanation:

Mono hybrid cross is defined as the crossing between two plants considering the two different alleles of a particular character. It was 1st performed by Father of Genetics, Sir Gregor Mendel. The mono hybrid cross done by him considered the character tallness of garden pea plants, of which one was tall and other was short.

He crossed them to get all tall plants in 1^{st} Filial generation. Now as he self bred those plants, he got the tall and short plants in ratio of 3:1. Thus he proved that the recessive trait of mono hybrids is 1/4^{th} of the total population of F2 generation.

Color in poison dart frogs is controlled by a single gene with multiple alleles. A blue poison dart frog that is heterozygous fo
8_murik_8 [283]

Answer:

Cb>Cy>Co>Cr

Explanation:

First of al we need to do the Punnett square. As a result we get the genotypes:

CyCb

CyCr

CoCb

CoCr

Because there are no red frogs, red is the least dominant as it isn't expressed in any genotype.

Half of the progeny are blue and half of the possible genotypes contain the blue allele meaning that blue is expressed in all genotypes. This means that blue is the most dominant.

The only alleles left are yellow and orange. We can deduce that yellow is more dominant than orange because one of the parent frogs is yellow and contains the genes for yellow and orange.

As a result blue is the most dominant, yellow is the second most dominant, orange is the third most dominant and red is the least dominant.
