The main reason why the end of the importation of slaves into the United States in 1807 met with little resistance was because this only outlawed the importation of slaves from Africa, but not slavery itself. Slavery was still accepted in the South, and because the children of slave women were slaves themselves, the "business" was "self-sustaining."

This all set the stage for Adolf Hitler to power in germany, and with the german people's support.
