vredina [299]

Question:

A yellow seeded, purple-flowered heterozygous plant (YyPp) is crossed with a green seeded, white-flowered plant (yypp).

(Y = yellow seed allele; y = green seed allele; P = purple flower allele; p = white flower allele)

What is the probability that an offspring of this cross produces plants with green seeds and white flowers? Assume the traits assort independently.

Answer:

The probability that an offspring of this cross produces plants with green seeds and white flower is 25% = 0.25

Explanation:

Available data:

  • Y = yellow seed allele; Dominant
  • y = green seed allele; Recessive
  • P = purple flower allele; Dominant
  • p = white flower allele; Recessive
  • the traits assort independently

Cross: A yellow seeded, purple-flowered heterozygous plant with a green seeded, white-flowered plant

Parentals) YyPp x yypp

Gametes) YP, Yp, yP, yp yp, yp, yp, yp

Punnett square)

                           YP Yp yP yp

              yp YyPp Yypp yyPp yypp

              yp YyPp Yypp yyPp yypp

              yp YyPp Yypp yyPp yypp

              yp YyPp Yypp yyPp yypp

F1) 4/16 = 1/4 = 25% YyPp, Yellow seeds and Purple flowers

    4/16 = 1/4 = 25% Yypp, Yellow seeds and white flowers

    4/16 = 14 = 25% yyPp, green seeds and purple flowers

    4/16 = 1/4 = 25% yypp, green seeds and white flowers.

The probability that an offspring of this cross produces plants with green seeds and white flower is 25% = 0.25

Which best describes the role of auxin?
Morgarella [4.7K]

Answer:B. speeds up the growth of the plant on the shaded side

Explanation: plants have hormones.these hormones controls the activities of the plants by serving as specific chemical signals between cells. They are usually moved from where they are produced to the region of the plant where they act. Eg auxin, cytokinin, gibberellin etc

Auxin has the ability to cause enlongation in shoot cells and root . They cause the cells of plant to stretch. they are produced in the apical meristem, buds and leaves. They also causes the suppression of side buds.

When a plant is placed in a dark shade and a side is exposed to light, auxin gathers on the shaded part of the plant. This causes the cells in that area to enlongate and the plant bends towards the light.
